Roxy gets a haircut

We took Roxy in for a haircut and she looks like a new dog. I will post the before and afters.

Pepper is officially a Intermountain Therapy Dog

Well it's official. Pepper and I just finished our orientation and got our red clothes. We still have to do a shadow and then someone has to shadow us, but we are almost there. He is the best dog EVER! We did our first volunteer work at Dimple Dell rec center. We went and the experienced handler talked to the kids about dog safety. Then they got to pet the dogs. I have to admit I didn't know how Pep would do with a bunch of kids mauling him but he did awesome. He didn't seem stressed about it or anything. He definetly gravitated to the counselors (who were older teenagers) than the kids but that is not suprising as he prefers older kids and adults to little kids. We are hoping to start out in an ECF versus a children's facility and then see how it goes. Maybe South Davis or something like it. Anyway, I am so proud of him!

Mom Super Powers

Well I discovered one more of my mom super powers. As usual Jake and I had a fight the other night about him showering. After much cajoling he finally relented. But then when he got out I realized some of his hair was dry and some was wet. I asked him if he washed his hair and he said, "yes" Well needless to say I told him I had the super power of being able to tell washed hair from unwashed hair just by touching it. He went in and washed his hair. This got me thinking, what other "super Powers" do moms have? If you have any suggestions either leave it on the blog in a comment or on facebook and I will "publish" a list of them. Be creative. We all know we have eyes in the back of our head. Come up with some fun ones.

Fourth of July

As usual the fourth at my house means setting stuff on fire curtisy of Chris. He actually showed up for a while so we didn't miss the tradition. Once again we escaped with no-one burning the neighborhood down. I added a couple of pic's of Fourth of July when the kids were little. They have grown up but their love of fire has not died down.

Another Boo Boo

Jake managed to slice his hand open. It took just 6 stitches. He did it on Chris' old dagger. Luckily it made a nice clean slice.

Michael Jackson

I'm sorry, but I am a fan. I think it is sad that I have to apologize for being a fan of the best musical entertainer of all time. His personal and legal troubles aside, he defined a generation... my generation. Those of you who were teenagers when Michael hit his stride remember him fondly. We try to remember the Michael that turned MTV on it's head and danced and sang his way into our hearts. He is part of our collective consciousness. When a person dies, any person, the bad things they did tend to fall away and only the good stands out. So it will be with Michael. We can forget how Elvis, Jim Belushi, and Marilyn Monroe died and remember their work. So it will be eventually with Michael. His wierdness will always be there, but it is for his musical legacy he will always be remembered. RIP MJ.

It's A Miracle!!!

Well it finally happened. Chris graduated High School. He got his Adult Ed Diploma which is essentially the same. He can now say he is officially a High School Graduate!!!. I am a proud Mom, to say the least.

My Beautiful Daughter in her Dance Costume

This is Steph in her recital costume. Isn't she beautiful!!!

Roxy

This is a pic of Roxy. She is my newest acquistion from the humane society. She was rescued from Calif during a domestic dispute. She was found with duct tape around her mouth. She is so sweet and I can't believe that anyone would abuse her in anyway. She is learning some obedience and manners.

Tracey's Animals

And I don't mean the kids either. Here is a pic of Max, my 1st attempt to rescue an animal from the Humane Society, sadly we found out much to our dismay that he was aggressive towards other dogs. And despite what you have seen on Animal Planet or Nat Geo, it just couldn't be fixed. I live in a neihborhood with lots of other dogs and would be horrified if he hurt any of them, so I had to take him back. They tried to rehabilitate him, but in the end he had to be euthanized. He was very sweet and very handsome but just too aggressive. We will miss you Max.
